Community Feature: Ken Gaspar on Leading Through Service
At Cowork Collective, we love celebrating the people who make Monett such a special place to live and work. Our November Morning Brew gathering featured one of those individuals, Ken Gaspar, a longtime community leader whose impact can be seen all across Monett.
A Life Rooted in Service
Ken has called Monett home since 1992, when he and his family moved here from Southeast Massachusetts. Over the past three decades, he has built a successful career at Jack Henry & Associates, working his way from support programmer to Technology Solutions Architect.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ken is known for his deep commitment to community service. His personal philosophy, “to leave something in a better condition than which I found it,” has guided how he lives and leads.
That mindset has shaped years of involvement in education, athletics, and civic projects that continue to make Monett a better place for everyone.
Leadership That Makes a Difference
Ken is currently serving his fifth term on the Monett R-1 Board of Education, where his steady leadership has helped guide local schools through growth and change. He also serves as a City of Monett Commissioner, overseeing Public Works, Parks, Utilities, and the Municipal Airport, all areas that have a direct impact on local quality of life.
His volunteer work extends to the Monett Youth Baseball and Softball League, where he has served as Treasurer and Concessions Director. Ken helped lead major park improvements, including securing Major League Baseball grants and installing new MUSCO lighting.
Over the years, he has also been recognized as a Leadership Monett Graduate and recipient of the Monett Chamber of Commerce Pride and Progress Award.
A Community-Driven Legacy
Ken’s impact reaches far beyond his titles. Through his involvement with Monett Main Street, local schools, and events that bring people together, he continues to create opportunities that strengthen both community spirit and the local economy.
During Morning Brew, attendees shared stories, asked questions, and reflected on how one person’s consistent effort can inspire others to do the same. Ken’s story is a great reminder that leadership is not about titles or recognition. It is about showing up, helping others, and building something that lasts.
Continuing the Conversation
We are grateful to Ken for sharing his time and experiences with our Morning Brew community. His example of leadership through service reminds us that small actions can create a big ripple of change.
If you missed this month’s Morning Brew, we hope you will join us next time for coffee, connection, and inspiring conversations that bring our community closer together.
