what is coworking?

Coworking is an innovative concept that emerged in the early 2000s. Since then, the concept has been refined and developed to meet the needs of today’s professionals. The appeal of coworking is that it is flexible in nature: this allows the space to transform and fit the needs of working professionals across multiple generations and career paths.

The idea of coworking is centered around the concept of creating community among fellow “coworkers.” Cowork space operators meticulously curate a sense of community within the space to foster collaboration and connection.

Coworking lowers the cost of doing business. Unlike traditional office space, a coworking space can easily be customized to lower the overhead and operational expenses, thus saving you money. Flexible memberships also allow the space to grow with you! With multiple membership options, it is easy to find space to focus and be productive.

Recent data indicates that employees will fall into four categories:
1. Always in the office
2. Three days in, two days out
3. Two days in, three days out
4. Always remote

A cowork space is able to provide a solution to the hybrid nature of work. A cowork space can also fulfill needs with growing companies that experience overflow, as well as meet the needs of companies looking for a satellite office to grow their market share of their industry.

This isn’t some fad and it isn’t for certain generations. Coworking is for everyone, everywhere. Urdan, suburban, and rural areas, In fact, by the end of the decade, coworking space is projected to grow from 90 million square feet to 1 billion square feet in the U.S alone (CBRE Research).

The top benefits members of cowork receive is the opportunity to connect with other members for work networking and social opportunities. In fact, 85% of cowork space members turn to other members for help, guidance, or to outsource work. And, according to GCUC research, small businesses, freelancers, and self-employed are among the members who cowork the most (GCUC, 2022).
